Hello Mr. Dinkjian
I was wondering for whom you composed "Dinata,Dinata" or "Gel Gel Sarisinim". Was it for Sezen Aksu or Eleftheria or someone else? As far as I know it was first sung by Sezen Aksu. Does that mean you first sold it to Sezen Aksu and then Eleftheria?
Thanks in advance

I play the oud and am self taught and play totally by ear. I love your music and am learning and practicing your music. The oud is an amazing instrument and you truly do it justice. If you ever come to California, I would love to see you and hear you play. Philip, a fellow Armenian in America.

A relative/friend just told me about Dinkjian. My wife and I are very much attracted by the Oud; she plays several stringed instruments, but, alas, not the Oud; I am an avid audi-ence. We are both very eager to hear Dinkjian; is there anyone reading this who could make some suggestions?

Hi Ara, first of all I have to tell you how sweet you make the cumbus sound, it nearly made me cry in one of your songs with Night Ark!! The question is: Do you have only 6 strings on your cumbus and are them normal cumbus strings or heavier gauges? And How do you amplify your cumbus and oud? (which mics etc..)..thanks a lot and keep on playing that HEALING music you do!!!! take care

Always your deep playing transports me to some place inexplicable, mysterious and mystical. Rare does one find music/playing that so awakens the soul and strums ever so reverently the invisible strings within of joy, peace and what some would call "divinity." Thomas Chapin experienced this with you, I'm sure, each time he played with you or listened to your music. What blessings were wrought in the Universe when you two played together, when you sat and talked together, when you walked together. I'm so honored to have been introduced to you, Ara, beautiful soul and master musician, through Thomas. I love to play your CDs over and over again; they uplift me and fill me wtih
light and universal good. Wish I could see you more in live concert, or even at the annual Jerusalem Oud Festival -- maybe one day! To me, you, like Thomas did, represent the finest in musicianship, honoring totally such a sacred calling to offer your gift to the world. Yes, for peace on earth. (It's working. It's working...)
Wishing you all the best, always.
Love,
Terri Chapin

Dear Ara,
I don't know English very well so I'll write Turkish.. Mutlu oldum. Söyleyecek pek birşey yok ama burada senin şarkılarını bulmak oldukça zor. Türkiye burası! Keşke tarih daha farklı yazılabilse; sen Türkiye'nin sanatçısı olsan, barış dolu ezgiler göğe yükselse. Olmuyor, olamıyor biliyorsun. Tarih bu coğrafya'da hep onlarca kontrol edildi, onlara alet olduk, halen onlara bağlıyız; ''Batı''. Neyse amacım tarih hakkında konuşmak değil zaten. Müzik yaşamında başarılar dilerim.

I just got both Ara's An Armenian in America and Onnik's live in Jerusalem and I cannot stop listening to them both. I am very familiar with the genre and had known Ara from Night Ark, but was not aware that he is still performing. The musicianship is of a very high calibre and both the new compositions and traditional songs are very organically performed in good taste. May God give both Ara and Onnik a long and healthy life. Thank you for such great music.

Dear Mr. Dinkjian,
Let me introduce myself, my name is Meri Karako and I am from Israel.
I was born in Turkey and had been denying my roots for a long time, until I heard your oud sounds emerge from your last CD.
I also attended your performance in the Tel Aviv Zappa club. My enthusiasm was so great, that as a creative artist myself, I would like to incorporate your music into my video-art project which is about yoga.
The piece I would like to incorporate is number 11 - “The Long Goodbye”, from your last CD - “An Armenian in America”.
I will point out that the movie is not for any commercial purposes, and ask your permission to use your music in it.
I am happy to provide you with any additional information you require.
Since I am currently in the advanced stages of editing the movie, I will highly appreciate a quick response.
Thanks in advance,
Sincerely yours,
Meri Karako.

I think, it was on the 70's, on your birthday night, when I first heard you playing guitar in Montreal with your dad (vocal), Mr Barsamian (oud), the late B Sohigian (dumbeg) and Karnig Meghitarian (clarinet). Hope, you kept some "cassettes" with you, to remember that remarkable event. Onnik said: "...and I want to present you this young person, but not because we have the same name, but because he will become, in the future, one of the best musicians in America. This is Ara Dinkjian, my son, on guitar".
Thank you for this fine chance to be in contact with you via your website. I am feeling lucky!
Take care, Ara.

When and where will you perform your next concert? Awesome mixing on the CD. Eager for your next.
